Hmong College Prep Academy hosted their 10th graduation ceremony on Friday, June 10th. "Graduation is always a special time for the staff, students and families of Hmong College Prep Academy," stated Superintendent Dr. Christianna Hang. "This is truly a wonderful group of seniors who are now ready to move to the next phase in their lives. They're self-motivated, disciplined and goal-oriented, personal characteristics that will serve them well in the future."

Of HCPA's 2016 senior class, 85% met all of the necessary requirements to receive their diploma. In addition, students who had been enrolled at the school for a significant period of time had higher graduating rates. Those who had been with HCPA since their 9th grade year had a graduating rate of 92%.

"Studies show that remaining at the same school for your high school career is very important," stated HCPA School Counselor Cecelia Lee. "School credit consistency, curriculum goals, learning environment and access to additional educational opportunities are far less likely to change when a student remains at the same school. The end result is a more balanced, uniform and successful experience."

Lee added that 100% of graduating seniors were accepted to a college or university. In addition, 89% confirmed their enrollment to their selected post-secondary choice for the fall term. The class of 2016 also set a record with students being awarded nearly $600,000 in scholarship and grants. She credits this success to the school's CP, (College Prep), Program.

"The mindset that our students will be going to college is a part of HCPA's curriculum beginning in Kindergarten. The CP program provides our students with the resources needed to find a secondary education experience that matches their interests and career goals. It also helps students apply for scholarships and financial aid."

Dr. Hang added that HCPA students have been accepted to many colleges and universities including:

• University of Minnesota Twin Cities

• Minnesota State-Mankato

• St. Cloud State University

• Milwaukee School of Engineering • St. Catherine's University

• St. Xavier University

• Concordia University-St. Paul

• University of Wisconsin-River Falls
