By Brittany Nixon
This week, ten Scouts from across the United States will represent the Boy Scouts of America in Washington, D.C., to present the organization's annual Report to the Nation to top U.S. officials.
Adam Vang is one of those ten Scouts selected from approximately 2.3 million youth members to deliver this year's Report to the Nation - a tremendous honor! Vang is one of the many Eagle Scouts produced from Boy Scout Troop 100 in St. Paul, a Troop with a lot of tradition and service to the Hmong community, now serving second generation Scouts. He was nominated to be a delegate by the troop's longtime Scoutmaster, Dave Moore.
"I'm excited to meet different people and make new friends," said Vang. "But I'm also nervous because, well, I have to give the Report to the Nation!"
Youth delegates are selected to represent all areas of Scouting and every region of the country. To give the Report to the Nation, they will meet with the Speaker of the House and many other top governmental officials to highlight the BSA's achievements during 2016, such as the nearly 15.4 million hours of volunteer service and the 55,000 young men who earned the rank of Eagle Scout.
Vang, as well as the other youth representatives, will be arriving in Washington, D.C., Saturday, March 4th. During the next week, the Scouts have scheduled visits to the Pentagon, the White House, CIA, Arlington National Cemetery and the U.S. Supreme Court.
