Hmong Museum's third Hmong Chronicles event features award winning author, Kao Kalia Yang and her father a song poet, Bee Yang at the Arlington Hills Library in St. Paul on Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 6 - 8 pm. This intergenerational collaboration will take audience members on a journey through the life experiences of Hmong refugees through Bee Yang's original kws txhiaj song poetry and interpreted by Kao Kalia Yang through her writing. Light appetizers will be provided followed by a book signing by Kao Kalia Yang. The audience will be given the opportunity to ask questions after the performance.

The Hmong Chronicles series, which launched in July 2016, is committed to revive Hmong oral traditions through intergenerational collaborations between Hmong elders and contemporary Hmong artists. In previous events, spoken word artists and dancers interpreted the original Hmong creation folktales, and a theatrical play highlighted old folk tales and elder perspectives and talents.

This program has been funded in part by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the Minnesota State Arts Board, the Asian Pacific Endowment Fund, and donations from over 800 individuals and businesses in the community.

Hmong Museum is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that envisions a thriving community with a heightened Hmong consciousness. The Hmong Museum exists to recognize and acknowledge the intersections of all things Hmong.
